The Trojan War: Love and Deceit in Ancient Greek Mythology #shorts

Hello everyone, welcome to my channel. Today, we are going back to the mythical era of ancient Greece to tell an epic story about love, war, and cunning – the Trojan War. This story is not only a treasure of ancient Greek culture but has also profoundly influenced our literature and art today. So, please join me in traversing the river of time to explore this legendary history.

It all began with a beautiful mistake. Helen, the queen of Sparta, famed for her unparalleled beauty, was called "the most beautiful woman in the world." Yet, it was her beauty that sparked this war. Prince Paris of Troy, deeply captivated by Helen's beauty during his visit to Sparta, abducted her with the help of the goddess Aphrodite and took her back to Troy.

Helen's husband, Menelaus, the king of Sparta, in an effort to retrieve his beloved wife, united the Greek city-states and launched a punitive expedition against Troy. This marked the beginning of the Trojan War. A fierce battle ensued outside the walls of Troy, lasting ten years, and saw legends like the Greek heroes Achilles and Odysseus, and the Trojan hero Hector, leave their mark on this war.

Both sides paid a heavy price during this decade-long conflict. Heroes fell one after another, and the people within Troy's walls suffered greatly from the ravages of war. However, just when the Trojans thought they had withstood the Greek assault, something unexpected happened.

The Greeks constructed a massive wooden horse, left it as a “gift” outside the city of Troy, and then pretended to retreat. The Trojans brought the gigantic wooden horse into the city, celebrating their victory. But as night fell, Greek soldiers hidden inside the horse quietly emerged, opened the city gates, and welcomed the Greek army waiting outside. Troy was breached overnight, and thus, the ten-year-long war finally came to an end.
